This is the last edition of Hot News for the foreseeable future.
It has been an honor to be in your inboxes every morning for the last (nearly) four years. From coverage of IPCC proceedings, COPs, NCAs, and CERAWeek happenings to the grid-breaking, disinfo-spreading proliferation of artificial intelligence, I hope Hot News helped you understand and keep abreast of climate and energy news.
The climate crisis, and the cynical interests perpetrating it, is inextricable from everything — from misogyny and racism, to extractive colonialism and Indigenous sovereignty, to abortion rights, housing, insurance, and even democracy itself.
As extreme heat, (zombie) wildfires, droughts, rapidly-intensifying hurricanes, and more — all made worse and more frequent by climate change, mainly caused by the extraction and combustion of fossil fuels — wreak havoc around the world, the need for strong action to slash fossil fuel use and equitably adapt to our altered climate has never been greater.
Best wishes, and thank you again for welcoming me into your morning routine.
